Wood

Our knives are embodied with stabilized and selected natural wood. Only few types of natural wood fulfil requirements of being oily and dense enough, which make them perfect for a handle as they do not absorb water.

Stabilizing is a process of pressure stuffing the resin into wood and hardening it in a high temperature afterwards. The resin fills pores of the wood, which lowers water absorption. The resin can be dyed to create unique patterns on the wood. Their intensity and pattern depend on the graining of the particular part of wood and it is impossible to copy or remake. That’s why, you choose from the currently available wooden blocks.

N690 steel is very hard stainless steel made in Austria.
N690 contains chrome and vanadium which provides high stainless and harness properties. Blades made of N690 steel are relatively easy to sharpen. Easier sharpening and resistance to corrosion makes it a perfect choice for everyday use.

K110 Steel

K110 steel is very hard carbon steel. However, it needs more care and attention due to not being stainless. It shouldn’t be left for a long time in a water and must be cleaned after use. It has great cutting abilities and remains sharp for a very long time. After time it may cover in patina. K110 is one of the best steel types for professional usage.

Engraving

Personalisation

The possibility of choosing the steel type, rivets, wood and the endless options of personalisation are the features which distinguish handcrafted kitchen knives. Laser engraving allows to mark the blade with a name, surname, small initials or date. Each personalisation is set individually to meet every single expectation of the future owner.
The main idea behind establishing LAS (in Polish “forest”) was the desire to create both beautiful and useful objects. Our products introduce a new level of the aesthetics of kitchen accessories. Knives’ handcrafting brings two of our passions together – design and cooking, which combine in our blades. Our goal is to merge ergonomics with timeless designs so that our products are not only tools. They can also be a part of an elegant and beautifully designed interior. We believe that delivering products of the highest quality can fulfil the requirements of both professional chefs and home cooking enthusiasts. Handcrafted production of our knives allows to personalize them on the highest level.

FAQ

There are two strategies with them 😉 We have custom made knives - there are 9 blades in our offer. After choosing the model of the knife, the linings and other details are to be selected. All models and prices are presented on the top of our website. The lead time for such an order is about 3-4 weeks. The exact deadline will be given after placing the order. If you have any questions about the delivery time - please send us a message!

The second option is to choose from already made knives - these are mainly chef's knives. Unless we personalize the knife with an additional engraving, the lead time comes down to the receipt of payment and shipping time.

The knives are engraved in batches by a professional company with super powerful lasers for best results. We try to release series once every 4 weeks - usually at the end of each month.

It is possible to make an engraving for a single knife in the express mode. In this case, we take the available knife to the engraver and within 2-3 working days it is ready. However, we are not always able to carry out such an order, so please contact us before placing your order.

For all knives, we give a 2-year warranty for damage resulting from potential manufacturing mistakes or material defects.

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper use (washing in a dishwasher, removing the patina resulting from the knife not being wiped after use, etc.).

The most important thing in sharpening is to keep the angle fairly constant (as far as manual sharpening allows, of course). The most universal angle is about 15 degrees.

Water stones and diamond whetstones work best. The best stones are those with gradations of 1000 and 6000 or 3000 and 8000 - the lower gradation collects material, the smoother causes that the cutting edge is polished.

It is important to sharpen your knife on a regular basis. Regular sharpening takes just a moment and is not tiring because you do not have to remove much material.

Proper use and care of knives will allow you to enjoy them for a long time. After use, knives should be washed and wiped dry. This is especially important for the carbon steel K110. Knives should not be washed in a dishwasher. It is also worth remembering to sharpen them regularly for the maximum comfort of use.

Our knives are made from abrasion resistant Austrian tool steel. We use two types of steel: N690 and K110. They differ in composition and thus in properties.

K110 is carbon steel, which makes it harder, but it is not stainless steel, which requires more care in handling. In particular, it should not be left in water for too long and should not be exposed to acids, such as after cutting a lemon.

N690 steel has a higher chromium content, which makes it a stainless steel. Compared to K110, N690 has slightly smaller hardness (staying sharp). It is, however, easier to sharpen, which can be an advantage to those who are less experienced in sharpening.

The choice of steel depends on a personal preference and your knife care habits, but also on the type of blade.

The vast majority of purchases in our store are made online, which is why we do not have a stationary store. However, it is possible to see knives live in our showroom in Ursynów, Warsaw. In order to make an appointment please contact us!

Our offer bases on 9 models. It is occasionally possible to order a knife according to an individual project. However, this option requires a lot of patience, because time of its realisation depends on the date of cutting of the next series of blanks. The time of processing this order may take up to a few months. If interested, please contact us!

Gift vouchers are available in store. We have either vouchers for a given amount of money, or for any large knife or knife set of your choice. The gifted person, apart from the gift itself, also receives a unique opportunity to create a dream knife.
